SYNOPSIS
Simon is out of style, out of touch and is the under-performer in a financial management office in a suburban strip mall in Chicago. His office is shared with Hal, the silver haired “Veteran Earner” and Bittou, an East Indian man with a bevy of clients. They share office space with a travel agency run by a cute square girl, Bailey.
Today would have been Simon’s three-year wedding anniversary. Simon’s best friend Steve takes him out to lunch where Steve commits to getting Simon back into the social scene by taking him to out to the hottest club in town.
At Club Fluid, Simon (dropped off by his dad) meets up with Steve, Curtis (African American with a British accent), Antonio (thirty, Latino, long smooth hair) and Trevor (shockingly handsome, well kept, and impeccably dressed). Inside the club, Simon literally runs into his high school sweetheart, Meghan. He fails so badly that his friends drag him out of the club and hold an impromptu intervention. His buddies, the Wingmen, commit to getting him back into dating shape. Simon’s goal – Meghan.
They start with fixing his hair, followed by a night out at a cougar bar where the “Bay City Roller’s” are playing a comeback gig. Simon scores a “cougar” and gets some confidence back in the “sack”.
Meanwhile, Simon continues to develop his friendship with Bailey the Travel Agent.
The Wingmen don’t let up. They are determined to continue Simon’s training and transformation. They take him to a College Pub filled with drunken “girls gone wild.” It’s not for him. They go to a run down eclectic suburban disco where he scores with a pseudo hippie girl. Simon can’t dance but she, and her hippie roommates don’t care.
Dancing lessons take place at a gay bar. It turns out that Wingman Trevor is gay. But being a Wingman transcends race, religion and sexual orientation.
Finally he is ready for Meghan. The Wingmen return to Club Fluid with the new and improved Simon. Unfortunately, disaster strikes and it looks like Simon has missed the boat. On the big night of Simon looking to score Meghan, his nemesis, Karmouche has beaten him to the punch. Worlds collide when Simon, spinning out of control and drunk out of his mind, hooks up with (against the Wingmen’s advice) his ex-wife, Allison. He moves back in for a short stint.
It seems as if things are back to the way they should be in a relationship, boring and safe. A man has got to have some self-respect though, and when Allison hides him shivering and naked in the bathroom for hours so that her parents won’t find out they are back together he realizes that he has to “grow a pair.” Simon leaves her once and for all. Alone and humiliated he turns back to his best friend Steve for help.
He heads to Steve’s place and finds Meghan there with Steve. Meghan follows Simon out after he storms off and offers him the opportunity to be with her. He misses it again. Defeated he goes back to his parents’ house in the middle of the night. He arrives to a full swingers party in progress.
Simon wakes up in his office – Bailey comes to the rescue and cleans him up. After getting cleaned up he decides to go after Meghan again. He sets up a romantic evening, sends a limo (Steve drives) and sings on stage at a jazz club - a horrendous yet heartfelt version of Sinead O’Connor’s nineties classic “Nothing Compares 2U.”
It worked. Meghan can’t resist him. They skip dinner and head back to her place. Once back at Meghan’s place, Simon discovers that Meghan is not everything that he had built her up to be. Truth be told, although she is fantastically hot, she is actually very dirty, disgusting almost.
Cut to: Simon racing back to Bailey for the romantic, passionate climax
